The new interface allows users to comment and like photos using their browsers, rather than being forced to use a mobile device to interact with the growing filter-frenzy.

It doesn’t offer as much functionality as third-party services such as Webstagram (which allows search-by-hashtag and user, much like the app version of Instagram), or Hootsuite (which just launched an Instagram management plugin) but it does bode well for the future of all Instagram users (and the advertisers trying to tap into Instagram’s growing user base).

You can check out the new functionality right here.

Photo from solwat, who exists almost entirely on the internet.

Somehow, you’ve made it to the Capture blog, which is a great...

Somehow, you’ve made it to the Capture blog, which is a great start. Capture is an independent digital agency based in Surry Hills, Sydney. We’ve been around since 1997, watching the web transform in all manner of ways. We specialise in providing compelling and relevant digital solutions that are inherently social for all kinds of clients.

We’re here to share - deliver interesting content, analyse the work of others and promote our own work (which we’re sorry for, but you’ll thank us later). We’ll be doing this in any number of ways with some frequency - providing insight into our previous campaigns, how we see the digital world evolving and what we’re doing to contribute.

This space is a little less formal than our agency website for a reason - we’re here to spark conversations and to provide degree of transparency. Sometimes there’s a lot involved in creating great digital stuff - and we want to get as many people involved as we can.

So why Tumblr?

Where else? Wordpress is a great platform, but lacks a particularly active (or universal) network of users. While we are in the business of creating communities, we’re not averse to using those that already exist when we can. While Tumblr does exclude those not already using the platform to some extent, by adding on a more universal comments system (such as Disqus) it can be a little bit more welcoming.

How are we being transparent?

It’s good to know where ‘things’ come from. Advertising and its related endeavours are often treated as ‘invisible industries’ - which isn’t conducive to building trust between the people we are advertising to and the companies we are working for. We don’t want to stand behind mirrored windows and cast judgements - instead, we want you to know what’s happening, how it happens and (insofar as we know) why it happens.

Who is behind this?

My name’s Alex Watts and I’ll be looking after Capture’s contributions to the digital space. I’m the ‘social guy’ here, which means I spend most of my time being fantastic on the internet. If you have questions, complaints or praise/adulation, you can email me - or just comment below.

Catch you soon!
